ENOS works diligently to represent the interests of outdoor sports and to highlight their value with the European Commission Sport Unit. One of the ways that we do this is through the SHARE 2.0 initiative and previously through the SHARE initiative. As highlighted by the Sport Unit, the purpose of SHARE 2.0 is to organise and strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange on four important topics of:

  • Access to EU funding
  • Health
  • Innovation
  • Sustainability and Green Sports.

SHARE 2.0 has created 4 communities of practice on these four topics with the objectives to:

  • enhance stakeholders’ capacity to identify and use EU funding to promote sport and physical activity
  • promote and replicate promising practices in health, innovation, and green sport to learn from experiences
  • respond and adapt to potentially emerging needs

Communities of practice allow all participants to take up an active role and they are a participatory system using members’ pro-activeness to provide highly meaningful content.

ENOS has represented outdoor sports in the Green Sport Expert Group, which drafted the report with recommendations on “Sport’s contribution to the European Green Deal”.

Putting these recommendations into practice requires capacity-building measures and technical guidance. A community of practice is an ideal setting to support this process. This community is open to

  • all former members of the Green Sport Expert Group
  • those who are interested in playing an active role in making sport more sustainable

ENOS has been an active member of the Steering Group for this COP and has contributed to the development of the EU manifesto on Environmentally Sustainable European Sport.
