The ENOS Scientific Committee brings together leading researchers, academics, and thought leaders in outdoor sports, recreation, environmental science, and social sciences. Its role is to ensure that all ENOS initiatives—whether policy advocacy, projects, or expert group work—are grounded in robust, evidence-based knowledge.
Our Purpose
The Committee provides strategic guidance and scientific oversight to strengthen the impact of ENOS initiatives. By connecting research with practice, we help ensure that decisions at all levels—from local communities to European policy—are informed by the latest findings on participation, health, environmental stewardship, and social inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on Projects and Initiatives: Evaluate ongoing and proposed projects to ensure alignment with scientific best practices and societal impact.
- Research Integration: Facilitate the translation of research into actionable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and industry stakeholders.
- Thought Leadership: Identify emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in outdoor sports and recreation, providing foresight to guide ENOS strategy.
- Quality Assurance: Review publications, guidelines, and frameworks produced by ENOS to ensure credibility, rigor, and relevance.
Why it Matters
Outdoor sports and recreation are deeply connected to human health, community cohesion, and environmental sustainability. By grounding ENOS’s work in scientific evidence, the Committee ensures that the network’s contributions are meaningful, impactful, and credible. It also strengthens ENOS’s capacity to advocate effectively at European and national levels, bridging the gap between research, policy, and practice.
