The organisers of the 8th Outdoor sports Euro’Meet conference, taking place Sept 8th to 10th 2026 in Sundsvall, Sweden invite the submission of abstracts and posters contributing insights into the topics of the conference. Abstracts and posters may come from academic research or highlight practical programmes and good examples from the field.

The conference will provide an international platform for academia and research, to discuss recent research results and how these results can be transferred to practitioners and stakeholders outside of academia: policymakers, stakeholders from civil society.

Furthermore, the conference will debate new, challenging research questions related to themes of the conference that need to be addressed in the future.

It is also the ambition of The EuroMeet to provide the opportunity for organisations and practitioners in both the public and private sector as well as in civil society to share knowledge and experiences from projects and activities close to practice. The poster presentations will, furthermore, provide the opportunity to showcase project activities and get valuable input from the audience.

Through their posters, researchers and practitioners will have the opportunity to share their findings with peers, policymakers, representatives from national and regional authorities, outdoor sports associations, professionals, unions of professionals, park managers, active tourism agencies, and representatives of civil society organisations from throughout Europe. Around 300 participants are expected to take part in the conference.

This call is open to projects funded under all levels of funding programme (regional, national, EU, international) and project type (individual and consortium). Posters and abstracts should address one or more of the conference topics (as detailed below).

Speakers corner and exhibition

The posters will be exhibited during the three days of the conference in a dedicated and central area of the venue.

During a dedicated poster exhibition session on day 1, conference attendees will be invited to go through the exhibition exchange with one another to learn more about the posters on display, introduced to visitors by a representative of the selected posters to the visiting conference audience.

Promoting the initiatives beyond the event

In addition to the presentation and poster exhibition, the selected projects will also be featured on the conference website, on ENOS website and in the conference report.

Conference themes for abstracts and posters – Euro’Meet 2026

Posters and abstracts should contribute to one or more of the following conference themes. Submissions may be based on academic research, applied research, policy work, or practice-based projects.

Togetherness & the potential of a strong outdoor sector

This theme invites contributions that explore how cooperation, networks and collective action can strengthen the outdoor movement at local, national and European levels. We welcome posters and abstracts that analyse or demonstrate how outdoor sports can build social cohesion, reduce isolation and sedentary lifestyles, and respond to major societal challenges such as climate change and social fragmentation. Contributions may address governance models, partnerships, community-based initiatives, transnational cooperation, or new forms of organisation that help create a shared European outdoor culture.

Access & Accessibility

This theme focuses on access to nature and outdoor practice as a social and cultural issue. Submissions may explore physical, economic, social or cultural barriers to participation, and ways to reduce or remove them. We invite work on inclusive planning and management of natural areas, infrastructure and mobility solutions, governance of access rights, and models such as allemansrätten and other public rights to nature. Contributions should show how access can be organised in ways that respect ecosystems while ensuring that outdoor spaces remain open, fair and meaningful for diverse users.

Inclusion & Diversity

This theme addresses diversity, inclusion and wellbeing in outdoor sports and recreation. We welcome contributions that examine how outdoor practice can engage people of different ages, genders, abilities, cultures and social backgrounds, and how it can contribute to physical and mental health, confidence and social participation. Submissions may focus on programme design, pedagogy, policy, community work or research that transforms outdoor spaces into safer, more welcoming and more representative environments. Particular attention is given to initiatives that show long-term impact and strong cooperation between sport, education, health and social sectors.

Posters and abstracts should clearly explain how the project or research relates to one or more of these themes, and how it contributes to the vision of outdoor sports as a positive force for people, communities and the living world.
